In the textbook for this course, Johnson states that he will use the terms morals and ethics interchangeably. However, R. C. Ethical and moral behavior allows leaders to understand and enhance their duties with the decision-making practices within their followers and through their organization. When leaders demonstrate their ability to master their ethical challenges within their roles it gives them an opportunity to express their emotions such as how they address others through issues and show compassion towards the needs of their employees. As a leader, we set the standards of how we present ourselves to others and demonstrate good moral standards that will benefit an organization and its principles. Also, as a leader, you are held to a higher standard so your ethics should be fostering how you develop your followers and encourage them to achieve as followers in the future (Johnson, 2015). As a leader, to be justified within your leadership you must understand purely how to reach your followers and how you want to achieve your goals. It is essential for leaders to proceed and understand how to engage their followers with approaches that will enhance them successfully as well as demonstrate as a professional. Furthermore, Sproul gives us a clear understanding of ethics and morals through the Christian doctrine which provides justification from the scriptures and how to serve others within a leadership which will be acceptable in the eyes of God and how we treat others. Heckel, (2004).

Sproul’s definitions of ethics and morals is something that I can agree with.  I believe that ethics drives the way an individual wants to live or their desires.  Whereas morals is more of a driving force for how we should behave or act in accordance to perspectives of others or society.  Although there are two separate definitions of the terms, I am not entirely sure if I would agree that they cannot be used interchangeably.  As an individual who wants to act and behave with integrity, honesty, and care I would also hope others would do the same.  The way in which I act or behave would also be the same manner in which I would act around or towards others.
Demonstrating a positive ethical behavior will also support many moral issues that are noticed within the world.  Sam (2021) explored the “dark side” of education, administration that did not behave ethically.  Whether that was providing secret information to unauthorized personnel or abusing their power demonstrating they were not leading morally for the students and staff they support.  When leaders know the difference between setting standards and norms that support the organization and an individual’s personal responsibilities they can truly support and lead.  Ultimately, when an individual does not behave ethically, it becomes a fair assessment to say they are not demonstrating the understanding of right from wrong and therefore not leading a moral life.
