Sleep is an important and essential aspect of a humans life. It is detrimental that a decent amount of sleep is consistently achieved. However, there are some people that struggle with getting the correct amount of sleep that their body needs. This is called insomnia. Insomnia is gauged based off how someone is the day following their sleep (Kalat, 2019). Insomnia can cause sleep deprivation which has issues within itself. There are different reasons that people may experience insomnia. These include pain, stress, noise, medication, conditions of the body, along with some other factors (Kalat, 2019). To then deal with insomnia, one must be able to identify the reason it is occurring to them, which is why it is important to know the different possibilities. If the person does not deal with their insomnia, it can lead to sleep deprivation, which causes tremendous issues. Memory, attention, and cognition can be impaired, along with having trouble controlling one’s emotions and can develop mental illnesses (Kalat, 2019). These issues can affect people’s day to day lives and will continue to grow worse if not dealt with.
