It’s important to review the PNA and content outline when creating the treatment as they are building blocks for the larger project. As the textbook states, the PNA breaks down the problem that needs to be solved and how this video will be the solution for the targeted audience. While the content outline answers more details of the project itself, answering who, what, when, where, why, how, and benefits/drawbacks. Finally, the treatment breaks down the scenes of the video in a narrative format before the script is created.
It’s important to utilize the PNA and content outline when creating the treatment because they help provide the context for the video. The PNA will answer what the problem is and who this video is for. While the outline gives the foundation of details the treatment, and eventually the script, should include. Without using these two items to create the treatment, the scenes in the narrative can start to veer off course and not solve the original problem.
You combine both documents into the treatment by utilizing the audience information from the PNA to make sure you’re appealing to the desired group while also solving the listed problem. The content outline helps provide the research information to create the treatment’s basic storyline.
I believe both documents affect the approach I’d take to the final project since they are the “why” this specific project is being made. Without the PNA and content outline, there is no basis for why the video is needed and what it will provide its audience. With these documents creating the foundation, the final project’s objective becomes a lot clearer and easier to create.
