For this assignment you will be focusing on the three main Sociological Perspectives (Structural Functionalist, Social Conflict Theory, and Symbolic Interactionist) and summarizing some of the main ideas of one of the main theorists (Emile Durkheim, Max Weber, and Karl Marx). I have provided these three individuals as they will be the ones we discuss most often throughout the semester.
Once you have chosen your theorist you will need to do some research. I would like additional information that is not listed in the lecture notes or the textbook. Please venture outside of the book for the majority of your information. This is you chance to add to your knowledge of the information and provide you with a foundation for the rest of the class.
You will then need to compare and contrast the three major Sociological Theories, again using outside sources of information. This will help build a foundation for further concepts and ideas.
You do not need to connect a theorist to a theory but rather focus on what you find interesting about the theorist.
1 page of text minimum per topic (meaning 1 page for theorist and 1 page for the theory), no maximum. The only information I need is your name in the top left corner. One full page of text is approximately 600-700 words. Your total submission should be at least 1200 words. Please make sure to submit as 1 essay with both portions included.
You will not be able to upload a document when you submit your assignment. You will need to copy and paste your text into the response box as this will alleviate any special formatting and make it much easier to read and grade.
References and citations required for outside information.
Format as follows:
2 page minimum = Roughly 1200-1400 words written in Word with single spacing and 12 pt. font. You will need to copy and paste your document into the textbox. Please do not link to outside spaces such as Google Drive.
Name in top left corner
Please post number of words at bottom of essay.
