My answer in class based on the questions. Based on this activity you have to make self-reflection what were my thoughts and what I understood this is topic 2 and the picture is attached above.
Write down 5 things that came in your mind when you think/read it, for example “AGE” = ageism or underage drinking etc. “Appearance” = how I dress etc.
- Appearance: When I look at someone it is the most important thing which I saw it tells me about their personality and If a person is well dressed and perfectly groomed it really catches my attention.
- Personality: For me personality really matter it kinds of give me an idea to know about the persons behaviour and their attitude.
- Work experience: Experience is something which shows the persons knowledge and how can I learn from them
- Self-esteem: People with low self-esteem often judge themselves harshly based on their appearance. This can lead to a negative self-image and a lack of confidence.
- Geographic Location: It tells us where a person is from tells about their culture. What are their thoughts?
Looking at the factors again, think about those you have difficulty in accepting other people. Which of the factors do you make snap judgements on? Which influences your decision in a negative manner? What factors cause you to try to avoid contact with others?
- When I see someone, the first thing I notice is their appearance. I make snap judgements about what kind of person they are based on how they look and what they’re wearing. I also make snap judgements about their personality based on how they act and what they say. For example, if I see someone who is well-dressed and groomed, I might think that they are a successful and confident person. On the other hand, if I see someone who is disheveled and wearing dirty clothes, I might think that they are lazy and uneducated. These snap judgements are often based on stereotypes and preconceived notions that I have about different types of people. However, they can also be based on my own personal experiences. For example, if I have had a bad experience with someone who is disheveled and unkempt, I might be more likely to make a negative snap judgement about someone who looks like them. Judgements are often inaccurate and can lead to discrimination. However, they can also be helpful in making quick decisions. For example, if I am looking for a job, I might make a snap judgement about a potential employer based on their appearance. If they are well-dressed and groomed, I might think that they are more likely to be professional and successful.
