Ethic Summary
This week we jump into the discussion pertaining to ethics in the workplace. This is a topic that you will find is common as you enter the workforce in the role of management. Your ethics will be judged, your employee’s ethics will be monitored. These might not be direct, but how we act is always viewed by our peers. You will have the opportunity to share your thoughts pertaining to ethics are you continue through the week.
Take a moment to consider what ethics means to you. This may vary from your peers. However, most of us know the difference between right and wrong. Or do we? What are the headlines of this week’s newspaper? Chances are that you will find at least one article pertaining to someone breaching the code of ethics. So, if we all know what’s right from wrong, why does this happen so frequently?
Upholding ethical standards is vital to the success of a leader. Furthermore, it is important for the leader to pass this behavior down to their followers. This often sets the example and sets the standard for the workplace. When everyone behaves ethically, the workplace tends to run smoothly.
Consider a time where you feel your ethics were challenged. How did you handle this? Often employers will implement ethics training into the workplace as a means of encouraging positive behavior as well as a means of teaching and enforcing proper behavior.
