P271 (Sum‐22) SCM Global Business Analysis
Overall Article Review (AR) Instructions
I am looking if you know the article: Keeping‐up with reading & concepts
Format: pdf file format, Single‐Spacing, 12‐font, 1‐Page Max
• Typical effort is ¾ page length with a 1‐page maximum
• 5‐Points available for each review
• Bullet format is acceptable but watch not too short/general
1. Read the Article
2. Answer the Questions. Every Article Review (AR) and Discussion will have distinct questions. See each Canvas
Assignment for the questions. Clearly identify each of the questions you are answering. Do not group them all together
in a single paragraph.
3. Rate the Reading: Rate the content (1‐3) as it relates to class.
• Rate the assigned reading.
• (3=Enjoyed/Applicable)(2=Fair)(1=Did not like/follow)
• Comments are always welcome. Especially if you liked/disliked and why.
Questions may require a quick Google search around a definition. Historically this is a 30‐minute maximum effort for
students. Read the article and get your thoughts on a page. Each article will resonate differently with each student driving
section content. Show me the effort and thought process.
Cut and Paste is NOT tolerated. Any form of academic misconduct will be dealt with severely. Make sure that you do your
own work, cite any sources, and never misrepresent your work to your colleagues or professor. If you have any questions

To be considered for full‐credit; assignments must be submitted on‐time or early. Late articles are accepted on a rolling
scale until the Canvas Assignment closes. There is a 1‐point penalty for the first 24‐hours late. The penalty is lower late and
complete than on‐time and under‐developed. Once an AR is closed, assignments will not be accepted. Please do not ask
for latitude unless you have a personal emergency. If you have a personal issue see me in‐person to discuss.
An assignment is considered late based on the date stamp within Canvas Assignments as it relates to your class start time. I
do not give latitude for system/network issues. My suggestion is to submit early. If you submit early enough, I will grade
early and give you the chance to re‐submit for full‐credit before the due‐date.
The expectation is you should get full‐credit on article reviews (AR). You do not need class material to complete the
assignments. Many students post several weeks in‐advance.

AR06: The Reinvention of Procurement
1. List examples of how Procurement’s role is critical to a firm’s success
2. Discuss examples of how Procurement supports Services
3. What are the new competencies for Procurement?
AR07: Getting Offshoring Right
1. Explain each of the steps the author identifies to outsourcing
2. Discuss a current example, not mentioned in the article, of outsourcing and how it relates to the article.
AR08: Chip Shortage (Team Exercise)
1) List reasons why there is a chip shortage
2) List generic actions you would take in order of importance.
3) One idea is to buy-ahead and stock pile so you would “never talk this part again”. What are the firm-level
